All communication between Confluence and SharePoint is done by the backend. The authentication and authorization flow is handled by Atlassian, as explained in the documentation https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/manifest-reference/providers/ .
All requests to the Microsoft Graph API are done in the context of the current user (see App Permissions )
